Description

The NEPHELOstar Plus is a laser-based microplate reader that uses forward light-scattering to measure the solubility of samples in microplates.  This unique microplate reader offers laboratories a rapid method for testing the solubility of drug compounds in solution, which is a necessary step for compound management.
NEPHELOstar Plus Light-scattering based applications include:

  • Drug compound solubility screening
  • Bacterial and fungal growth,
  • Quantification of macromolecules,
  • Formation of immunocomplexes and flocculation
  • Quality control
  • Polymer formation

Laser-based Nephelometery
The NEPHELOstar Plus is a laser based system that outperforms halogen lamp based units both in sensitivity and reproducibility. With BMG LABTECH´s Digital Photon Integration (DPI) technology and the ability to detect scattered light up to an 80° angle, the NEPHELOstar Plus is approximately thirty times more sensitive than conventional transmission readers that measure solubility.
The laser beam intensity and diameter can easily be adjusted in the software; this allows measurement in colored, turbid, and viscous solutions. In addition, the flexible beam diameter allows measurement in all microplate formats up to 384-well.

Additional Features
Temperature-regulated heating plates above and below the entire plate movement area provide uniform incubation up to 45°C. The NEPHELOstar Plus also has the option of adding a gas vent and up to two on-board reagent injectors which allow simultaneous injection and reading of up to two different reagents per well.
The NEPHELOstar Plus can be incorporated into a wide array of robotic systems via ActiveX or DDE interface. For mid-thoughput plate handling, BMG LABTECH also offers the 50 plate stacker with an integrated bar code reader.
Developed to meet high-throughput demands, this microplate-based nephelometer is faster than conventional solubility, precipitaion, etc. detection methods with the highest sensitivity and flexibility.

Accessories
  • Atmospheric Control Unit (ACU): provides the ideal environment for cell-based assays by regulating O2 and CO2 gas levels in the microplate reader
  • Microplate Stacker: optimises microplate handling and increases throughput by providing rapid loading, unloading, restacking, and continuous feeding for up to 50 microplates
